Thailand - A Practical Tool to Start a Local Economic Development Initiative!

Due to the economic crisis, "Hot Topics" in Thailand are unbalanced growth, non performing loans, dysfunctional financial markets, low inland demand. Nevertheless, due to an increase in exports, growth in competitive sectors/industries and trade liberalization, a structural change from low-wage to a newly industrialized country is forthcoming. For the Government, SME Promotion is one of the central topics, as it is of political lobbyists. Why should PACA be an appropriate means to stimulate SME competitiveness? Which steps have to be taken? Are there any difficulties to be taken into account? This presentation summarizes the experiences of PACA in Thailand.
